Error Backing Up a SQL Server 2000 Database Using HP Data Protector.

Applies to: Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition, HP OpenView Storage Data Protector.

Error Message.

When we were trying to backup 4 databases on a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 instance using HP OpenView Storage Data Protector we received the following error on the HP OpenView Storage Data Protector Manager:

[Warning] From: OB2BAR_Main@server.domain.com.do "(DEFAULT)" Time: 4/3/2008 3:35:26 PM

Error has occurred while executing a SQL statement.

Error message: '<Microsoft SQL-DMO (ODBC SQLState: 42000):bc5>

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.'

Cause.

We had the MSSQLSERVER service running using a domain account and the "Data Protector Inet" service running using "Local System" account. Both services should be running under the same account.

Solution.

We changed the "Data Protector Inet" service account to the same domain account the MSSQLSERVER service was using. After the change was made, we restarted the Data Protector Inet service.
